Addressing illicit drug production, transport and trafficking within the Latin American region and its effects on youth, public health, and social stability.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime focuses on tackling issues such as illicit drug trafficking, organized crime, corruption, and terrorism through international cooperation. UNODC also emphasizes the importance of balancing security measures with the protection of human rights and sustainable development. The committee aims to promote justice, strengthen the rule of law, and encourage solutions that balance security with human rights.
The agenda highlights the need for international cooperation, strengthened legal frameworks, and preventive strategies. Delegates are encouraged to analyze the factors driving drug trafficking, assess its impact on vulnerable populations, and propose realistic, sustainable solutions that balance security concerns with human rights, public health, and long-term development.
Hi delegates,
I’m Samidha. I’m honoured to serve as the Head Chair of United Nations Office on
Drugs and Crime (UNODC) at the JBCN Chembur Middle School Model United Nations 2026.
I chose to chair UNODC because it addresses some of the most complex and pressing
global challenges, where effective solutions require a balance of strong
international cooperation and critical thinking.
My journey with MUN began in 2025, and over the span of a year, I have participated
in multiple conferences and found my passion in public speaking. I’ve been a part of
several MUNs, including prestigious and highly competitive ones like HMUN Dubai and
Oxford MUN, and have earned several awards along the way. These experiences have
shaped my understanding of diplomacy, structured debate, and the importance of
collaboration within and outside of committee spaces.
Outside of MUN, I enjoy art, music, reading, watching sitcoms, and I
unapologetically enjoy sleeping whenever time allows. These interests have helped me
value balance and creativity - qualities I believe are essential both within and
beyond committee. Additionally, I am deeply interested in international relations,
youth leadership, and global affairs. I strongly believe in the power of dialogue to
create real change.
As Chair, I hope to foster an environment that is respectful, engaging, and
intellectually enriching. I expect delegates to give it their very best,
participate, develop new skills and approach debate with confidence and
open-mindedness. I will ensure that the committee remains dynamic and inclusive,
where every delegate, new or experienced, feels heard and encouraged. I look forward
to seeing thoughtful discussion, creativity and diplomacy, and hope every delegate
walks away with both learning and memorable experiences. Hope to see you all there,
and all the very best to all delegates!
Dear Delegates,
I’m truly honored to be able to harbor the opportunity and responsibility of being a
co-chair at JBCN Chembur MUN 2026. My peers and I are so incredibly privileged to
hold such a prosperous event, to host these talented delegates in our school, and
hope to foster diplomacy, collaboration, teamwork, and critical thinking.
My journey in Model UN conferences began in April of this year, since which I have
participated in almost 7 MUNs, with numerous awards. Beyond MUN, I am greatly
passionate about international affairs, youth leadership and advocacy, and political
sciences. I believe that we, as a community, have the voice and power to bring real
change into this world, through ways never seen before. I took the onus of
co-leading this committee to nourish and enhance my understanding and interest in
affairs like organized crime and justice within the global community.
Outside of academics, my experience and endeavors in fencing and art have taught me
patience, sportsmanship, caution, precision, and discipline; virtues I value deeply,
as not only a delegate, but also a person.
It’s integral to remember; this is never about winning. It isn’t just awards and
ceremonies, it’s a journey, through which you meet incredible individuals, learn new
things, and most importantly, have an awesome time. To all delegates, within and
outside of my committee, whether this is your first or last conference, my team and
I wish you luck and hope you enjoy this conference as much as we will.
